The Tennessee General Assembly passed the IMPROVE Act in 2017 in order to fund more than 900 backlogged transportation projects across the state. The legislation increased the state fuel taxes for the first time in more than two decades and authorized eligible counties to seek voter approval for additional funding for public transit.
